2023, 2022, 2021, 2014, 2013, and 2012 Leon County Large Neighborhood of the Year!

Leon County Government and the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) recognizes our community’s outstanding neighborhoods and neighbors through the Annual Neighborhood Recognition Program. Winners are recognized for going above and beyond to make our community a better place to live, work, and play.

“For more than four decades, Leon County has proudly celebrated local neighborhoods and community leaders through our Neighborhood Recognition Program,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Nick Maddox. “Whether assisting neighbors in need or hosting events to bring everyone together, Leon County neighbors support one another and help make our neighborhoods feel like home.”

Large Neighborhood of the Year – Lafayette Oaks Homeowners Association

Lafayette Oaks has an active social committee that plans neighborhood events to bring the community together and gives back to the wider Leon County community by volunteering for events and programs, including an annual Leon County Operation Thank You Veterans Day Breakfast.

“Through the years, Leon County has been impressed time and time again with the compassion and dedication of our neighbors and neighborhoods to one another and the larger community,” said County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “All of our nominees and winners should be proud of the positive impact they have had throughout Leon County.”

The Neighborhood of the Year Award winners received a sign to display at their neighborhood entrances. The Neighbor of the Year Award winner received a personalized plaque that highlights the individual’s leadership and service to the community.

“Neighborhoods and the folks who live in them are vital to the well-being of our community,” said Leroy Peck, President of CONA. “CONA is thrilled to continue our partnership with Leon County to host this important recognition program and celebrate what makes our community so wonderful. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners!”

Special thanks to our all volunteer board and many community volunteers.
